Doom and Gloom

Dow: The high was hit and I'm predicting that it's all downhill from here, maybe down sharply (like 1,000+ points). How long will that take? probably not long. Why will this happen? I have no idea... bomb? pandemic? hedge fund implosion? housing crash? Iran war? I dunno...

Bullet Vibe: We had our one and only gig (it's really hard to get gigs in San Francisco). In fact, it wasn't a gig it was an open mic, but an open mic at a really nice stage with amps and a drum set. We played marvellously but I couldn't help but feel pangs idiocy as an old dude playing rock. Why is rock the domain of the young? Or is it just that guys like rock and only girls will go see young guys (unless they've already got a bazillion hits under their belt) so therefore the chances of an old dude breaking large into the music scene are slim at best. Regardless, our bass player is moving back to Chicago and it looks like I've been placed on travel to Connecticut for the rest of the year. If you haven't had the chance to listen to us yet, won't you please? Go to http://myspace.com/bulletvibe and sign up to be our friend and leave us a raunchy note.

Bird Flu: Thought I had forgotten about it, yes? No! it continues it's slow burn in Indonesia. It's transmissible human to human, larger and larger clusters are happening and it is learning how to spread easily and infect the upper respiratory system of humans. Also the virus has been found in numerous places in the U.S. in migratory birds, although the media is stressing that it's the "low pathagenic version" -- regardless, it's amazing that it has spread to the U.S. and probably just a matter of time before we start seeing migratory bird deaths caused by H5N1 (in fact a duck in California may have died from it). We're definatly in a stage 4 pandemic (according to the WHO) and we're probably entering stage 5 as we speak.

My comment on the Wellstone post was meant for this one, sorry. As much as I think your head is up your backside in your market analysis, I'm with you on the bird flu stuff. I can't really understand why nobody in the U.S. seems to care about it. There's no Government cover-up involved. The fact that the network news isn't touching it is good evidence that bird flu is not yet at a stage where it can enable fear in the hearts of the "average American" which is the basis for selection and presentation of most television news.
